Some districts have their own job fairs in Feb. There is a large teacher job fair at UMSL in Feb and at Mizzou in March.
Several districts are in cost containment and not having job fairs due to the small number of openings. That includes Parkway.

Good luck to you. It's a very tight job market right now. You might have to settle for smaller districts that are not your first choice until the bigger ones have better budgets to work with. Or, you may get lucky. Good luck on your search

On...See MoreYes, you do. If your contract is not renewed with no reason given you can claim unemployment as well. Be sure to get started with the claim early as teachers filing for unemployment automatically get investigated to make sure that they are not just unemployed for the summer (with or without pay) and that they were not fired with reason.

I am an National Board Certified Oklahoma Middle School teacher moving to the Branson, MO area this summer. Can anyone tell me the pay scale (20 yrs experience), if you have any incentives for NBCTs, and where to start in getting certified to teach in MO.

I can't tell you the answers to your questions. I do teach in SW Missouri and we're not on a really high payscale.

Here's where we'll be:
Tuesday, January 12, 2010 – sessions at 5:30pm, 6:30pm and 7:30pm Cox Hall 504 Schifferdecker Avenue Joplin, MO 64801
Wednesday, January 13, 2010 – sessions at 5:30pm, 6:30pm and 7:30pm Doling Family Center 301 E Talmage Street Springfield, MO 65803
Thursday, January 14, 2010 – sessions at 5:30pm, 6:30pm and 7:30pm Arc Recreation Center 1701 W Ash Street Columbia, MO 65203

Can anyone tell me more information about a Job Fair I heard about on the radio today that is going on in Springfield, MO tomorrow? Just caught the end of it and can't find anything online about it? Thanks!
Teachers have no rights regarding this. In fact, our board policy even states that we may be asked to go "above and beyond" the regular job hours. HA! When I first started, our hours were 7:50-3:05. Now our hours are 7:15-3:30. Not to mention tutoring after schools. We are the lowest of the low, and have NO rights!
