I am completely confused, and a few of my colleagues are too. A friend of mine says that when your teaching license renews, you no longer have tenure. Every teacher will have had their license renew by 2018. I thought that for those who already had tenure, the recent lawsuit ruling said that it was unconstitutional to take tenure away. Tenure is done by district and teaching licenses are issued by the state. I've looked at everything I can online and even read the ruling by the Court of Appeals, and can't find definitively if this is true or not. So.....when my license renews this summer, will I lose tenure in my school system?
