I have a question. I resigned from my position just last week. The thing is that I never signed a contract (in fact the district is working without one this year). I never received any paperwork of my new position ( I was a sub last year). However I was told that I would still be held to 60 days because I was approved in the board minutes in June for the position. Is this correct? It seems that my supervisor and I have worked it out that it will not take 60 days, but if I refuse to stay I know that they can suspend my teaching license for a year. Any insight you can provide is appreciated.

hg Even though the district is working "without a contract" each teacher should have received an individual contract committing to employment for this year. These are generally given out after the budget is approved or once new hires are approved by the board. Answers Both previous posters are correct. How can they both be right?

When a district is working without a contract, they use the rates and guidelines from the previous contract. If you were given an offer sheet last school year, which usually lists your upcoming salary and step information, and you signed it, then you are bound to the requiremen...See More
