A superintendent once told me he would rather hire a "mature" teacher opposed to a recent grad, as we bring life-experience.
But what I am seeing is the recent grads getting the interviews and the jobs.

Spread your wings into charter schools, private schools, community colleges, adjunct positions, start apply to NY, Conn, and PA. Sub in two or three other school districts. I know it is tough out there. But the best thing is to keep you and your resume very exposed to many school districts as possible. Use Facebook!!!!.
