Business Degree - want to work in education!

Hello All,

I am a NJ resident, holding a Bachelors Degree in Finance and Economics, and I am 3/4 away from a Masters Degree in MIS. I want to use my degrees in an education setting. I am pursuing the Alternate Route program to attain my CE so that I am eligible to teach in a high school. But I am also interested in adjuncting at the college level. My dream is to work in education in some capacity, and unfortunately figuring out this dream came after college graduation. Just wanted to get your thoughts on the alternate route program for business studies, and how I can get into the field of education.

I started substitute teaching after being laid off from my job and after about six months and putting word out that I was seeking a permanent teaching job l was offered a permanent position. I didn't know the principal or anyone in high places I was just a substitute who expressed an interest. I am now teaching 2nd grade while taking classes through the alternate route program to get my standard license so please don't give up if this is what you really want to do. I too was applying online at several school districts to no avail so I would say go in as a substitute and get to know the principals...you will get the inside track on vacancies and if you're already there they will have no problem hiring you.
