Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my query.

I am currently an non-certified substitute teacher working in Moore ISD. I have a B.A. in Theatre. Unfortunately, I began my B.A. in theatre under the understanding that I could become certified in teaching theatre at the high school level. My univeristy, however, did not inform me that this was incorrect until two months before my graduation. Since then, I have been substitute teaching and have since changed my goal to Early Childhood Education after many days of enriching and wonderful experiences subbing for elementary-age kids. I am now searching for the right path to become an Elementary School Teacher. I've been looking at all sorts of websites and guides, but I have yet to find a clear, planned-out path for someone like me. I know what tests I need, but I do not know how I can qualify for a general license with consideration to what I have so far. Sarah My understanding (and I'm by no means an expert) is that you must have a degree in the early childhood or elementary fields to test in that area. So it sounds like you would have to pick up that degree somehow in order to teach at that level.

frank I think you will have to get your initial certificate in something that matches your degree such as theater or drama. After that you can test in elementary ed if you wish. As for the money for grad school. Try the Oklahoma national guard. Since you have a degree you can join as an officer candidate and after some training you will be a second lieut...See More
