Hi, I am wondering if anyone out there can answer this question for me. After several years of working for a private residentail setting, I have moved into the Chariho School district. They are taking out 9.2% of my salary as retirement and when I questioned it, they said it was mandatory. I am wondering if all districts do this state wide or not. It adds up to quite a bit of money each month and while I understand the necessity of retirement, as a single mom, I need the money now for the next couple of years. I expect to work till I die anyway. :) Not sure I like the idea that anyone can tell me how much of my SALARY I have to put towards retirement. Any info would be great! THANKS

In this state everyone has to belong to the State Retirement System or Social Security. You have the better of the two. Too bad you are starting your career so late that you can not claim the benefits. Contact the Retirement System-they can answer any questions you may have.

Correction: in this state everyone has to belong to the state retirement system. In addition your district may have you also pay into social security. If you do not pay into social security you will pay into the state survivor benefit program.
The state retirement system has lots of information online.

I had gone to school with an aspiring spanish teacher named Jaclyn Fisher. We haven't been in touch since we graduated but I was wondering if anyone knows if she has landed a job in RI yet?

We purchased an Australian Shepherd from the local per store and it is from Lambriar. This is the most beautiful, intelligent dog you could ever ask for, so while not everyone is happy (it is normal to hear only the negative), we are.

I used to work for Lambriars, as a delivary driver. They had one of the best set ups on the trucks I had seen with the other trucks.

I must say I raise dogs and sell some to Lambriar and as to your comment about "the parents"all of my dogs are treated great and have heat/ac and all they want to eat as well as strict wormings and shots so please don't make it sound as though every breeder is bad cause we aren't.
Hello, My name is Kristen I live outside of Niagara Falls NY and I am helping my daughter's 3rd grade teacher organize a project. I am in need of willing participants. The project will consist of each participating class to make 16 paper gingerbread men, depicting facts about the area or state that you live in. I will include a link at the end of this email to a site that I got this idea from. This shows examples of gingerbread men they had received while doing a similar project. Then those 16 will be sent out, one to each of the participating schools from all around the country. This will teach the students many different skills including geography, map skills, writing and social studies. A bulletin board can be made with a map and when the gingerbread men are received, a map marker can be placed from that school. We will need 17 schools to participate, since you wouldn't send one to your own school. The students can brainstorm, research, and create the gingerbread men individually or as a group. If you are interested all I will need from you is your school address, and your name, so that I can give a list of class names to all participants. If you are not interested, please share this idea with another third grade teacher. I would like to get this project started right after Thanksgiving, so that the gingerbread men can be mailed out by December 10th. If you are interested please email me back by November 12th. This will allow for other classes to be contacted if you cannot participate. Here is the link to the similar project to give you a better idea. [link removed]
