I have been accepted into the Rhode Island Teaching Fellows program. There is no guarantee that you will secure a teaching position after attending their summer institute. Does anyone have any insight into what your marketability/placement expectations will be like once you complete the program? Would it be more beneficial to go through a more traditional route to certification?
riteacher Right now there are lots of teachers retiring but budget problems are rearing in many if not most communities. How many retiring teachers will be replaced remains to be seen. Some communities will hire starting now but many more will be doing their hiring in the weeks preceding school starts (mid to late August).

You are asking a question that the Teaching Fellows group should be able to answer. They should know how many applied, went through the program, and were hired.

riteacher u>Teach for America had their big kickoff in Rhode Island today. According to the paper they will have 30 jobs available for each of the next three years. So that's 90 jobs they can fill.
