Hi all, I'm a teacher in Texas and I know this seems like an off topic question - and I hope you all are a friendly board and will not mind - but it seems like the bulk of the websites for planning my trip through your state (we are going to go up 95 to Boston) conflict with one another. My bf (also a teacher) and I are outdoors folk. In my experience, the state parks in Texas can vary widely in quality so I'm sure it is similar to SC, so I bring this question to you all:

What parks/beaches/outdoor attractions should we visit? I've just heard how beautiful your state is, so I'm trying to make sure we get to see her in all her glory. We do primitive camping when we camp. While we won't have time to do a multiple day hike, I'd love to go explore a bit of nature for part of the stop. Or if there is a certain activity (we rock climb, white water raft, etc) that would be adventurous, I'm open to suggestions.

Tammy Hope it's not to late to respond. If you are near the coast, you should definitely visit Huntington Beach State Park, just south of Myrtle Beach and Garden City.
