financial advice

I put in three years of work in NC. I now want to take out my retirement and put it into some type of fund here in SC. I only have about 7500 dollars to start with. I have heard that we can have a deduction done through payroll to financial services like edward jones and horace man. Have any of you taken advantage of this? IF so, what company and route should I go? 401K, 403B? I am intesrested in adding a little extra to my retirement as well as setting up a college fund for my daughter.
