We are considering moving to the Williamson County area next summer. We are getting tired of all the traffic and feeling sardines where we live in Northern VA. I have taught kindergarten for the last 3 years in Northern VA and would like to be able to teach in TN when we move. I am in the process of applying for my TN license. I don't think I should have a problems since TN gives reciprocity to VA and I have taught 3 years and have taken both PRAXIS and NTEs. Also, does anyone know if Word Study is being used in any TN schools? Word Study is a developmental spelling program that is wonderful! Also, at what grade does guided reading begin:?
Hi, I am about to take the last 2 praxis art test ... Art Making and Art: Content, Traditions, Criticism, and Aesthetics, and I am freaking. Seriously I have no idea how to study for the essay questions. Any advice about what to focus on? It would really really help. Thanks Beth
Hello, I have a 4 year old son who will be starting public school next year and I am very interested in substitute teaching. I worked as a histotechnician, until a week before my son was born. The only teaching experience I have, besides being a mother, is instructing various Health and Safety courses for my local Red Cross chapter. I would love the opportunity substitute teach, in my local public school system. I just don't know how or where to pursue. Any information is greatly appreciated.
How is the teaching situation in East TN? We are considering moving and I am currently certified PK-6 in Virginia and 1-8 in Maryland. Would my outlook look good or is it hard to find jobs?
I lived in the Johnson City area. It is hard to find a teaching job. People hang on to their jobs there. I am not saying you can't. Most of the counties have a county school district and city school district. Knox County put it all together to save money. I would try all the areas around where you want to live. North Carolina seems to have more jobs. Good luck!!!

I often see ads for oodles of teaching positions in Memphis. Is this true? Is the process long and laborious? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I am moving to the Nashville area at the end of the year. Does anyone have any ideas about this area as far as the elementary school job market is concerned? I've been teaching for 7 years in Florida as a music teacher but I also have certification in Pre-K through 3rd grade. I'm planning to attend a teacher job fair in Murfreesboro in April. Any ideas about that area?
I would appreciate any information anyone could share.
If you're interested in getting ideas for teaching comprehension and fluency strategies in Grades 1-4, I will be presenting a full day seminar in Chattanooga in May. Check out [link removed].

We are going to Putnam County TN over spring break to check out the Upper Cumberland area. We are considering a move to the Middle TN area in July 2008 or 2009. I am currently teaching K in Northern Virginia and I am certified to teach PK-6 in VA and 1-8 in MD. I'm getting all my paperwork together to get a TN license right now. I am a highly qualified teacher based on NCLB and currently have a BS in ELED with Special Ed inclusion on my MD license +12 graduate credits in reading. Any advice?
