If you teach literacy in grades K-5 you might want to check out literacynook.com IT has tons of reader's theater scripts, center ideas, word walls, comprehension etc. Does anyone have a good link for poetry since April is National Poetry Month?

I recently went through Ducktown and saw the beautiful Elementary School. How lovely!! I have bought some land nearby and would like to apply in the Polk County System or a nearby county. I am elem. ed. and have 28 years experience teaching in Georgia. Any Ducktown teachers out there? Does Ducktown have openings often?
I was wondering if everyone took everything off your walls/covered things up during TCAP. One year we were told to, the next year we were told we could leave everything up, and now we are told to cover everthing again. What do the rest of you guys do?

We have always, always covered everything up. This includes rolling up the big rug with the alphabet and color words on it. LOL
We cover everything as well. I even cover the manuscript ABCs that are up to help with handwriting and my calendar.
Do your students use calculators? We were told this year the students could even use multiplication charts if they were taped to their desks. Doesn't make sense to me.

I'm having the hardest time finding job postings for teachers in Nashville! I've taught Spanish in elementary school- all ages- for 4 years now, and I'm looking for any openings in/around Nashville. Anyone know of any available positions?

I happen to come across this post. I have never taught in the elementary classroom only high school. I am looking into a position in an elementary school teaching Spanish. Can you suggest a particular curriculum or program you follow? It would be so much easier if I had a guideline to follow. thank you. I hope you have luck in your job search.
I currenntly use Viva el Espanol- Systems A and B (there are more levels, but it takes me 4 years to get the kids through those 2 levels!) They are great. They are from the Wright Group, McGraw-Hill. If you contact them, they are amazing at sending out samples and keeping in contact.
Also, I decided to stay at my current job...I absolutely love it, but the pay is AWFUL!! That's really the only reason I was looking for another job, but I decided to stay one more year to get a better program put in place for them.

Memphis City Schools is a large district and pays well. Lots of problems though. Shelby County also pays well with not as many problems, but does not hire as many new teachers as MCS.
