Middle School Math or English Teacher WANTS a JOB! East TN

HI! This is just a shot in the dark.. Are there any openings ANYWHERE in Eastern TN?? I don't really care where. I just DO NOT want Memphis *ick* and I HAVE TO GET OUT OF MIAMI * ick-ick* I am certified in Florida & Alabama & Highly Qualified in Midle School Math & Language Arts. I am Bi-Lingual (Spanish) I have been teaching for 13 years in Miami-Dade Florida. My Tenn Cert is going through now. I do not care where I move as long as it is OUT OF FLORIDA!!

PLEASE.. help. Thank you =0)

Meagan My school is looking for a teacher that is high qualified in 5th-8th grade math and reading. We are located in Eastern Tennessee. Please respond to the thread if you are looking for more information.

Are you planning to pay them as well or is living in your house such a privilege that you think free board is payment enough?

If you are only offering free board, then the math breaks down like this:

Renting a room in someone's home is usually about a $500 value or less most places in the US. You want them to tutor your child after school and on weekends so it sounds like your are asking for somewhere between 15 to 30 hours of work from them per week. That is 60 to 120 hours a month of work so the employee compensation would be roughly $8 to $4 per hour. They also have to live in their employer's house (horrible) and have their time basically monopolized. For a lousy value of $500, they will basically be prevented from taking any normal job that might cause them to come home too late to tutor your children and they will be deprived of being free a couple of days a week to go do their own thing.

Only a moron would take this deal. I'm not exactly sure what sort of person would be offering it. It sounds pretty awful.

If what you are looking for is a nanny with a teaching credential, then advertise that and pay accordingly. Otherwise, you are looking to get a lot and pay basically nothing. Kind of sick.

What other profession gets such insulting offers? Imagine telling a lawyer or doctor, "I'll let you have a room in my cramped middle class house for free but you have to do several hours of work for me every single day in exchange." You'd get told to go to hell. No one would even attempt making such a ludicrous offer. But apparently, teachers are viewed as having not much better options in life than an uneducated third world nanny from some poverty stricken country. Says a lot. Anybody else regret choosing this career?
