The application deadline has been exte...See MoreFor educators who are interested. The National WWII Memorial in Washington, DC is having a 2016 teachers conference. Teachers who attend the conference will receive 24 continuing education credits upon completion.
I have provided a link to the website for more information and the application.
The application deadline has been extended to July 8, 2016.
If you cannot provide a letter of recommendation at this point, that is completely understandable, just do your best to complete as much of the application as you can. We know much of the staff at schools have gone on summer vacation.
...See MoreHi! I accepted a job in the Roanoke City School District as a teacher working for students with Autism. Not sure which school yet, but can anyone give me info as far as nice areas to live? Outside of the city, please. We are currently in Florida, close to Disney. We are looking for a county with land, quiet, nice for a family with 6 kids.
I've been to Va once... For the job fair I went to 2 months ago. Any insight would be great!
Hello, I am a spec. Ed teacher in massachusetts and I am looking to move south where its warmer and cost of living a little better. Im just wondering what its like to teach in virginia. I have a masters degree. Im basically wondering if my salary would support me and my family.
I still sub in my former school and things have gone "south" since I retired in 2013. way too much micromanagement and outright interference, never mind the "benchmark" testing every 6 weeks and the prep done in class for each one. Incredible amounts of instructional time are lost with this regimen.
$10,000 more? I had heard that pay in south Carolina and Virginia (even Tennessee) was better, but I didn't know it was that much better.
North Carolina has been taken over by stupid...well, no...let me qualify that...by evil. these people know exactly what they are doing to public education. it's their intent to turn education in the tar heel state over to corporate run charter schools, ones who can abuse teachers, pay them next to nothing and make big bucks off the people of north Carolina.
I'm looking at working in Pittsylvania county...hoping it works out. I miss the kids and the interaction with the staff.

I'm Pa certified and have heard that teachers are in high demand in Virginia. I'm wondering if I should start applying to Virginia schools in hope of becoming a teacher, since the area I live in now is surrounded by Pennsylvania teaching colleges. Please help me out, how easy is it to get hired down south?
I'm dually certified in New York State and recently relocated to Virginia to obtain a teaching position. There is a huge need for teachers down here! I would recommend applying for a job in Virginia as available positions are prevalent, and it's a great area. Best of luck to you!

The Miss Tennky Area AFS Team needs a replacement family for Tinn from Thailand. He has been a student at Mt Juliet HS, but we have not been able to find another host in the area. Where we have found a family, the schools would not take another exchange student and where we have found schools we have not found a family. Tinn is a great all round guy who loves studying and has great English skills. He also likes children, science, math and plays piano. If you would like more information, please, contact Becky Heywood (Temp parent. they live in MNPS which will not take any more students until semester.) at [email removed].)

Have an AFS (awesome, fantastic and stupendous) weekend.
With a BA and professional work experience, I thought all I needed morewas the VCLA, PRAXIS and 3 classes. I've already taken the FOUNDATIONS class and I have the PRAXIS (Middle Math) and VCLA.
I would very much like to transfer to a new position within my current district. My principal flat out told me its not an option... advice please? I can't physically meet the restraints/job expectations of this current job due to a medical condition. I can easily have paper work that states that.
