I am interested in relocating to Northeastern VT to teach Sped. Basically, here are my questions? - How much do VT teachers pay into teachers retirement? - Do VT teachers have to pay into social security (in some states, they don't) - Will VT districts give step credit for at least 10 years certified teaching experience? - How much are teachers in VT expected to pay for helath insurance premiums (for a family plan)?
* teachers retirement not sure, but is not a lot * social security...yes * usually gives experience steps * health insurance varies...some districts, tho rare pay 100% recent negotiations statewide are asking teachers to pay more into health premiums. Our district just went to 20%
Does anyone know if it's the norm for Vermont school districts to recognize all the years of experience of new hires? For example, if I have 9 years of fulltime experience in my old district, will the new district place me at Step 10?

I am currently a 5th year Social Studies teacher in western New York and I am looking to return to Northern Vermont due to my husband's job. Is there any openings for the spring of 2004 or fall of 2004?
