I been watching this since the begining and kind of agree with each side on some issues. But I would like to remind everyone about one thing. Education is funded by tax dollars. If we stop paying taxes for it then their will be no education system and only the rich will be able to have their children educated.

People complain about the unions and on some issues they should. But we also want to get all children educated and not just the upper class. Cut backs to education is going to hurt this country. There are many areas were we could make cuts but education should never be cut but increased.

Taxes pay for schools, Prisons, Fire Fighters etc... Its funny how people complain about that until their house is on fire, or their neighbor is a child molester who isnt locked up in prison, or how their child is in a class room with 40 other kids and falling behind because they need more help and cant get it. People always complain until they are the ones who need that service...See More

GA teacher No confusion here. There are economic hardships everywhere! From the US government all the way down to individual families. Everyone has to make cuts everywhere. Sorry Wisconsin teachers, go back to work and educate our future. Without their education there will be no future.

Economic hardship belongs solely to the middle and lower class - the working people if you will. There are plenty on Wall Street who have all sorts of money to buy extra homes and big cars. Every crook who caused this economic melt down got to keep all of the money they stole and never did a single day in jail. In fact, I think they're getting more million dollar bonuses this year. And I'm sure the 400 richest people in America who have the same revenue as the bottom 50% of people in this country aren't having a hard time making their ends meet. You know why there's a huge issue with our pensions? Because the a-holes on wall street bundled up their crappy loans, rated them A+ and then sold them to the states, who are now paying dearly for it. The gap between the rich and the poor is enormous in this country. And destroying the unions will just make it worse.

Because this isn't about paying for benefits - teachers already said they'd pay more. This is most definitely about Republicans trying to destroy the competition. Our union dues don't go to overpaid leaders. They're volunteers. Our union dues go to campaign ads that support democrats. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that this is about partisan politics - as usual.

Why don't you go back to school and educate yourself, rude GA teacher.

RICH Is the upper class rich? yes And they also take their ideas and go to work with them to make money and lots of it. There is nothing wrong with that. They are business people who work hard to live thier dreams and there is nothing wrong with them getting rich off of it.

Now there are some companies that are crooked and need to be held accountable for their crimes instead of being bailed out. But you cant punish every rich person because of what a few crooks do. And everyone has choices to make in their lives. If you go to school and get a degree in a field that doesnt pay much, well that was your choice it wasnt forced on you.

And just because a person follows their dreams and works hard at them doesnt mean he is responsible for taking care of other people. The rich man didnt make you poor. He made a choice and worked hard at his dreams, he just had bigger dreams than most people.

Also if it wasnt for the rich you wouldnt have any job at all. Its his company that employees you. When you do an interview for the company you know what your going to be paid. If you dont like that hourly rate or salary then dont accept the job and move on.

I get tired of people saying the rich should give mroe to the poor and spread the wealth around. Why should you be given something you havent worked for? Why should their dreams and hard work be ruined because you didnt get off your butt and do more for yourself?

People are responsible for themself and no one else so stop the blame game or acting like someone owes you something because no one on this earth owes you a darn thing!!

Now with that rant complete I do feel this country needs a flat tax on everything and no one should be exempt from it no matter how much or how little you make.

With a flat tax everyone is equal. The rich will still be rich, the middle class still in the middle and the poor still poor. This is what we need to motivate people to work hard and follow their dreams. People are owed nothing by anyone.

crazy If you think the high up union leaders are volunteers then you are badly uninformed or jsut plain stupid. You may have a few people volunteering their time to hand out flyers and other petty stuff but the high ups are multi millionaires and off of your dues at that.

no problem I have no problem with people working hard and getting themselves ahead. That is a cornerstone of our system. What I hate is a system that Abuse the worker for the sake of certain people lining their pockets. The businessmen who cut their employees medical benefits. That is a cornerstone of our system. What I hate is a system that Abuse the worker for the sake of certain people lining their pockets. The businessmen who cut their employees medical benefits. I know such an effected family whose benefits maxed-out half way through their sons kemotherapy. How about governments who misuse the budget, continually elect to give themselves and system administrators large salary increases, and then turn around and cut wages and benefits of the employees. I see the administrators of WV school systems receive large pay raises while expecting more from teachers is increasingly overcrowded situations. All blame and responsibility is placed on the little guy to often. I have seen it in many industries. That kind of greed and abuse is what I hate. The powerful tend to lay their responsibilities on the powerless.
