I am going to the state park Friday at a higher speed and longer routes with one of the experienced riders.I am sure she will push me to a higher level. Then Sat we will do 9 hours with this year's training group.I am getting into a routine now.
Elaine, that's great to be able to make up missed steps. I guess my goal is to ride 3-4 times a week with group rides and rest or other activities in between. The grands will all be out of school by tomorrow or Friday. Bike companions!
Elaine/ret/INWow, men, you are really doing this biking thing! How cool! You'll love the helmet mirror. I've had a few, but I always lose them. The grands will be so proud to be riding with GRAM! Yoga this morning. 10,457 steps. 11 miles on the bike. It only rained once today. Before 9:00. Hallelujah!
2. Can any college classes count toward moving to the next step (for me its Masters +15) or does it need to be going toward a Doctorate?
3. What non-teaching jobs can you move into from being a teacher in DoDEA which still staying in your retirement plan (this ties to number 1, trying to figure out what I should take classes in)?
4. How long do you need to work in DoDEA before you can transfer to a different post in another state?
5. I have an out of state certification. How do I get a DoDEA teaching certification?
I only have experience with DoDEA overseas so take this FWIW.
1- As far as I know, no. There are apparently places that will give you a discount based on being a DoDEA teacher.
2- Classes do not need to be towards any type of degree. Random classes are just fine as long as they appear on a transcript from an accredited college/university and have a code for graduate credit.
3- Don't know much about this beyond ISS positions or moving into admin.
4- There really is not a transfer round for stateside DoDEA that I am aware of (and you would be eligible for the overseas transfer round). I believe you would be applying for other, internally posted openings once.
5- After your two year provisional status is up, you should automatically get your DoDEA professional license. You would then need to take at least 6 credit hours to have it renewed after 6 years.
Like I said, post on the DoD board and you may get some stateside DoDEA people to chime in.
My application was approved- but I wanted to know how long the process might take to be hired. I was hired as a sub but haven't been called yet for an interview as a teacher. Since they picked me up as a sub, will they not choose me as a teacher this year ?
