Yoga day today. Plus two walks (had to dodge the ice this morning on the roadsides) and a walking conversation with my sister-in-law. 12,044 steps. The ONLY topic of conversation in these parts is the weather. Nuff said.
Hubby and I did 3.5 miles in 93 minutes at the park. There was a rattle snake spotted near the duck pond earlier in the day so we were on high alert as we walked past that area. Luckily, no snake!
Elaine, we too talk about our weather. Ours is for the warmth (mid 80s) and the need for rain.
I started both my apps and...See MoreToday's adventure took me the the dam at the nearby lake. I have walked across the dam once with my hubby, but I really wanted to do some running. I decided to go earlier than I normally do (I am NOT a morning person and have never been) and I'm glad I did. It was in the mod 70s and there was a nice cool breeze.
I started both my apps and started across the dam. There were a few dog walkers but it was relatively void of people. I decided to keep doing the C25K app until I had complete most of the intervals. I really should read the description of each workout because I was disappointed with my distance covered. When I got home, I looked at the workout details and this week I'm running/walking 90 second on the first and third interval, then 3 minutes on the second and fourth interval. The time is still 30 minutes total with the 5 minute warm up and cool down walks.
After the C25k workout was done, I continued walking until I hit 3 miles. I crossed the dam back to my car and was .26 miles short of 3 miles so I walked up to the top of the parking lot and looped back to my car. My final mileage was 3.14 in 55 minutes.
My second app tracks my total walking/running distance via GPS. I like that this app tells me that I improved my time, my distance, my pace, or my speed. Very motivating!
I checked my weight this morning and I am down 2 pounds! Even with a few calorie hiccups last week, the moving is helping me re-lose the weight I carelessly gained back.
If I have a brag today, it is that I did two walks. RealFeel is 29F here. Wind and sideways snow flurries. 11,219 steps. I'll bet our Nanook of the North, Bev, is cocooning these days. The schools are really scrambling to get their "spring" sports played during this extended "winter." I think winter's shouting, "Calendar, Bah Humbug!"
I am an ECE teacher. I operate a preschool program from my home. I am looking for a forum to post questions or seek advice from a community of ECE educators. I am not sure if this is the right forum for me. Any preschool teachers here?
