Just found out my 2 fellow first grade teammates moved and now we are searching for 2 first grade teachers. There will be seasoned assistants in the classrooms but how do I go about preparing a substitute to start the year.
We completed a 30 mile group trading ride this morning. It was challenging but a strong sense of accomplishment followed. Next week is 36 miles and then reaching my goal for the summer - completing the big river ride the next week. I am ready for a nap.
Yes, 30 miles is a LONG way from the 3 miles of the first training rid...See MoreHi. Elaine. Yes, this weather has been amazing. The freshmen and international students started arriving this weekend and in another week, we will have 40,000 people added to our population. I am glad that the new people are getting a great first impression of our town.
Yes, 30 miles is a LONG way from the 3 miles of the first training ride in late May. I guess it amazes me, but I do have the trait of not giving up no matter what the obstacles might be.
Unfortunately, I will miss this coming ride on Saturday, the last one before the big river ride. We got news our mother died this afternoon so we will be traveling to her funeral that day. This will probably be the last time all 8 of us siblings will be together since my oldest brother is nearing 70. That hasn't happened, being all together for almost 20 years since our father passed. We live all across the country. It will be a melancholy time for me, but the time together will be wonderful. I am glad my grandchildren will be with us and share this family time with my rather large extended family. The youngest still isn't sure who everyone is related to her.
I have a job interview this week that I applied to for as a special ed para. I was surprised to get a call this evening from a principal who was wanting to talk to me tomorrow before I even got interviewed. That really wasn't the age group I was interested in working with, but I am willing to listen to see what he has to say.
So, lots to do. Lots to plan for and I will try to at least get a spinning class or two in for myself.
He is sing about the last few miles to go an he will be done. I did a lot of traveling and this song really touched me when I would hear it on the radio after a long trip.
I would appreciate your answers of lyrics for searching or singer name.
You don't hear songs very often ...See MoreThanks, 404. I was able to find it by searching a category called "more trucking songs." The song was in an album published 30 years ago. Interestingly, it can apply to a teaching career as well - most all careers for that matter. Here is some of what was on the site for "Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses."
You don't hear songs very often about decades of dedicated service leading to a comfortable retirement, but that's what's going on here, as Mattea sings about a truck driver named Charlie who is making his last run after 30 years on the road. The hook is that he's still madly in love with his wife, so now he spend the rest of his life with her - that's who the dozen roses are for.
The song takes us through his last run - with 10 miles to go he'll listen to just a few more tunes on the all-night radio station, then hang up his keys. He'll still drive, but now in a Winnebago RV with his wife. The song was one of four #1 Country hits for Mattea.
Enjoying the fleeting days of Summer, hope yours is going well too. I just cut into a watermelon from Trader Joe's, and was shocked to see it was yellow inside. How am I this old, yet never heard of yellow watermelon?
Elaine/ret/INOh, yes, Bob. Watermelon w chili lime is sublime. BTW, so is breakfast oatmeal. Just bought 5 bottles at TJ yesterday. We have to drive 2 hours to TJ, so we plan ahead.
