I made it to all three overlapping open houses at three different schools tonight. I liked all of the kids'teachers. The younger two both have mature experienced teachers who I think will be good matches for their learning styles. The 8th grader has quite a diverse group of teachers and I think she too will have a good year.

We did a new bike ride and discovered a delightful little town along a river. Ships--not my thing. But it had a dam areas which was very beautiful, and the bike trail followed the river wit a distance.
Men, of course we all know how important teachers are. I'm glad your kids fit well with theirs this year.

Bob R/CAI'd use a risk-benefit analysis - what do you hope to get out of that? What could happen to you if you push it and it comes back on you? I don't see a lot of upside in this scenario for you.
I am in need of guidance. I have to take CST Multi subject test in Technology Education in October; I looked for preparation materials online, and I am unable to find anything really helpful.
Has anyone taken the test? And how did you prep for it? Do you have any books that you read?
I am a Masters student in applied child psychology and I am looking for parents and practitioners who would like to take part in spending 5 minutes completing the attached questionnaire for my dissertation. This is completely on a voluntary basis. The main questions asked in this questionnaire will be around the amount of time you spend reading to children and what effect you think this has on a child's reading skills and their attitude towards reading.
I would really appreciate and love it if you could click and follow the link below. It's quick easy and anonymous and should help further research into the importance of reading with children! smile

They aren't worried because they know the teacher personality is generally such that you will kill yourself to get ready and make it work no matter how late they hire you. All the stress is on the eventual hire, and none of it really is on them.
Now, I agree with you that the wisdom would be to hire people as early as possible and that it is in everyone's best interest. There certainly are places and instances where this is what happens. But, having to fill positions at the last minute is a reality for a variety of reasons. They are used to it.
So, don't rule out the other reality that they are trying to keep a professional demeanor through the process! Some of them may be more worried than they are letting on.
I got dressed to go spinning but didn't make it. I got a call to schedule an interview for a part time job I had applied for last week. That meant trying to fill out an official application on line and I was rusty on dates and other details. I will make up my mind about taking early as or waiting a year if I get or want to get the job.
We are busy getting ready for school to start Thursday by trying to fit some last minute activities in. Tonight the younger two went exploring in the bog at the nature center and boy did they get dirty. The 7 year old fell in twice and both were covered in duckweed from head to toe. I did a double rinse of their clothes and I still found green things attached. The baths didn't do much better on their bodies though. They had a blast though.
Tomorrow is the anniversary of when my then 19 year old nephew was killed in an accident. He was ready to move into his first apartment here at the university that next week. Now every year when the college students come back for fall we remember the horror of that tragedy. I also got word from my sister that they have called hospice for our mother several states away. We knew this time was coming, but I guess we are never ready for the reality that our mothers die. So, it has been a sad day, but the grandchildren have helped with balancing out the feelings.
Elaine/ret/INHugs to you, Men. Life has its yns and yangs, doesn't it? I absolutely love your bog story. Kids need these experiences so desperately! Sooo much fun. What a sad memory for you. Blessings on your family and your mother as they travel the next few miles. Keep riding that bike!
That's why they became successful. It's so misleading to listen to some of these people on TV or the internet. So I just wanted to try to do something on my own to help clear the air and prevent some young kid from getting the wrong idea and that some how dropping out was the way to go.
So if anyone had someone they were concerned about, someone that listened to some rich guy brag about dropping out of college, then you could show them that every one of those guys didn't stop learning, they just traded in college for a different set of teachers. I tried to cover all the most popular alternatives people took after high school. From Community College (surprisingly effective) to military service. I loved college, took it myself and also included it as well as any book called Education Beyond High School wouldn't be complete with out a college chapter, but not everyone is the same. Some people really won't do well, or need another approach. I just hope that I can help someone who is really struggling right now.
Thank you, and I best regards to all you wonderful teachers out there!
