Interestingly, it can apply to a teaching career as well - most all careers for that matter. Here is some of what was on the site for "Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses."
You don't hear songs very often about decades of dedicated service leading to a comfortable retirement, but that's what's going on here, as Mattea sings about a truck driver named Charlie who is making his last run after 30 years on the road. The hook is that he's still madly in love with his wife, so now he spend the rest of his life with her - that's who the dozen roses are for.
The song takes us through his last run - with 10 miles to go he'll listen to just a few more tunes on the all-night radio station, then hang up his keys. He'll still drive, but now in a Winnebago RV with his wife. The song was one of four #1 Country hits for Mattea.
Enjoying the fleeting days of Summer, hope yours is going well too. I just cut into a watermelon from Trader Joe's, and was shocked to see it was yellow inside. How am I this old, yet never heard of yellow watermelon?
Elaine/ret/INOh, yes, Bob. Watermelon w chili lime is sublime. BTW, so is breakfast oatmeal. Just bought 5 bottles at TJ yesterday. We have to drive 2 hours to TJ, so we plan ahead.
I made it to all three overlapping open houses at three different schools tonight. I liked all of the kids'teachers. The younger two both have mature experienced teachers who I think will be good matches for their learning styles. The 8th grader has quite a diverse group of teachers and I think she too will have a good year.

Men, of course we all know how important teachers are. I'm glad your kids fit well with theirs this year.

Bob R/CAI'd use a risk-benefit analysis - what do you hope to get out of that? What could happen to you if you push it and it comes back on you? I don't see a lot of upside in this scenario for you.
I am in need of guidance. I have to take CST Multi subject test in Technology Education in October; I looked for preparation materials online, and I am unable to find anything really helpful.
Has anyone taken the test? And how did you prep for it? Do you have any books that you read?
I am a Masters student in applied child psychology and I am looking for parents and practitioners who would like to take part in spending 5 minutes completing the attached questionnaire for my dissertation. This is completely on a voluntary basis. The main questions asked in this questionnaire will be around the amount of time you spend reading to children and what effect you think this has on a child's reading skills and their attitude towards reading.
I would really appreciate and love it if you could click and follow the link below. It's quick easy and anonymous and should help further research into the importance of reading with children! smile
