I'm a dog magnet, I guess. I was bit on my bike years ago, by this same dog a few years back (that was through my jeans, so only redness, nothing serious).
The dog owner brought me a stun gun. I don't know what to think about carrying that. I feel safe around here except for dogs. I can't imagine that I could have the presence of mind to use it. Do any of you have experience with these?
Judy2/CAThe dog owner gave you a stun gun to protect yourself from his dog? Unbelievable! Is the dog not contained in his yard? I would be reporting him to Animal Control and taking him to small claims court. No way would I take the stun gun. My 2 cents!
Thank you for al...See MoreDear Bob, It's a big improvement that we can see the number of responses on a thread when we open the first post. Thank you.
I am going to sound fussy now, but is there any way you can make us able to see that on the initial topic list, or we still have to reopen each post to see if there have been more responses?
NovelI sort the board according to Topic List. You cannot see from the lst how many posts there are on any one thread until you open the first post. I was wondering if it would be possible to see the number of posts on the Topic List BEFORE opening a post. This is not a big deal though, Bob. I do not mean to make a fuss. Thanks :-)
Bob R/CADon't look at it as fuss, it's valuable feedback. I have considered that but didn't include it, because that list is very concise and adding that would probably clutter the output. I'll look at the layout when I get a chance and see if I can add it some way that doesn't impact the aesthetics.....
Complaining does not work as a strategy. We all have finite time and energy. Any time we spend whining is unlikely to help us achieve our goals. And it won't make us happier.
12,023 on two walks and lots of housework and outdoor work.
I just finished listening to "Be Frank with Me." If you have Overdrive, it's a great book to download and help you pass the time when you're exercising. Frank is that 4th grader that has a hard time on the playground because, really, a tophat, khaki's, and a button-down shirt is not traditional grade 4 attire. But, he's a movie aficionado, and a fact-machine; he stole my heart. I loved this one.

<...See MoreFirst, I love the new format, but I foresee a potentially large issue with requiring forced logging to respond. Let's say there is an issue which you wish to have fellow teachers advice, view points or suggestions. Those teachers ask you a question. You cannot respond to that question without giving up your anonymity.
See the examples...
Example 1:
Anonymous post: I have a problem with my administration singling me out for one reason or another.
Logged in Member1: Have you tried to talk to your union rep about this?
Logged in Member 2 (Unable to respond without logging in): This is the OP. Yes I have talked to him and he suggests I do this, but am not exactly comfortable with this. Do you have any other suggestions?
Example 2:
Anonymous post: I have a problem with my administration singling me out for one reason or another.
Logged in Member 1(chooses not to respond with helpful advice based on a similar situation, but does not post for fear of consequences if their admin happens to be on the same site): No Response
Possible solutions:
-Allow a check box to permit the OP to decide if replies can be anonymous.
-If OP posts anonymously, allow all replies to be anonymous
I also wish to state that I do not currently have an issue, but know that some people may become more discouraged with posting if they cannot reply without logging in. Either way, I do appreciate this resource and have done so for a long time. So, thank you!
I don't have a problem with people getting multiple accounts, if they have extra email addresses. That seems like a useful approach not just here, but anywhere that requires registration.
On that issue, not only do all of the most popular websites require registration (including a little site called Facebook) but it's getting really hard to even find websites which don't require registration. The fact you can post here without it makes us unique, even if you can't reply with it.
One more point, if you register, you're actually more anonymous, since unregistered users have their IPs recorded in the posting.
When I open up the chat board I see each post in its entirety. Is this the new format? I miss seeing a list of the posts that I can peruse and open only the ones that interest me.
jrod, now you have to go back to get your truck. Lucky they had a loaner for you. So kind of you to help your son move. Truck first, then gym is probably your agenda for tomorrow.
Two walks today: morning jacket; afternoon none. 12,488 steps.
