My principal came to me today and told me to go home due to the weather. Neighboring school was getting out early due to the weather. No questions I got my gear and headed out. Within an hour of getting home we lost power and had a mile and a half of high line poles down my road. Yikes! My neighbor could not get home because the poles were on the road and very high voltage. We have a gator 4 wheeler and could take her through the pasture down to her home. Son-in-law is bringing a big tractor over tonight so it is ready to go at 6:00am. 2 Power companies are involved so LOTS of trucks here to make the area safe. The last one will be here before 11:00 to cut off the power to the main lines. Can't imagine what this repair job will do to the crops, road, and fence lines along this stretch. Thankfully no other damage or injuries in the area. Now if the cows will all stay in the fence until we can get to them tomorrow and move them. Then we get a call from youngest daughter who had a student...See More
BA Deb, what a thoughtful principal to send you home early. Your family has way too much going on emotionally right now. I hope that you will be able to support each other and those in your community who need support. You are so right about how quickly things can change.
