Elaine: I am going to post in sections so when I get bumped off I won't have to start all over again.

The nature center reminds me of a secret garden with three walls of school classroom windows overlooking the space and the fourth "wall" is fenced in with a gate looking out to the back of the building.

There is a circular path that meanders around the space through mature trees and established plantings of shrubs and perennials. As you go on the path you are under shade and eventually go out to very sunny parts. The path is wide made of a variety of materials like bricks or very fine gravel.
men52 The path connects with a wood bridge that arches over a dry stream. The paths have the plantings on both sides and those are of just about every variety of plants one would find in this part of the country. There is also a working water feature with lily pads that were blooming just a couple weeks ago.

men52 The lady who runs the program is on a contract with the schools and teachers can opt in or not participate with their classroom. I noticed that each classroom has a designated area for their own use. I think each classroom meets once or twice a month through the school year. Elaine/ret/IN Wow, men, that nature center sounds like a lovely park. How cool that the classrooms can look out over the area. The painted boulders, the paths, the bridge, the lily pads. It is so good for the kids to interact with nature like this. Places like that really demand a dedicated staff/volunteers, don't they?
