Theo: My grandchildren's last school used Responsive Classroom and usually it worked very well. The only time I saw problems was when they hired last minute teachers who didn't have time to do the summer training. They tried with just mentoring from trained and experienced staff, but the newbies struggled with really understanding how to implement the philosophy. Those same teachers did complete the training the following year, then harmony returned to the school.

Unfortunately, their current schools utilize a hodgepodge of "techniques" so it is hit or miss as to what might work for any one child. Most are short term "solutions" and the students don't learn self control. Also the students who have good behavior don't need all those "gadgets" and rewards.
