Reading Workshops in Middle School?

Hi! I'm interested in starting Reading Workshops in my 6th grade ELA class. Does anyone here do that successfully? I've been researching them, but it seems like a lot of different texts being read at once. (A teacher read-aloud, guided reading texts, and independent reading texts... are they reading from three different books each day?) If anyone has any insight, I'd be most appreciative. :)
