12,977 steps. We spent the night with the kids and took the grands to school this a.m. Busy parents' schedules = Gram time (hooray)!

Back home by 9:30, 30 minutes with my friend, and then an hour walk to our downtown and back.

I needed to gawk at our town's tragedy. We're just 2500 people, and 2 stores in our main block (across the street from our historic courthouse) burned yesterday. One is gone--a huge hole. Another is still standing but will have to be razed. Two others will need total rehab. So sad. Firefighters have been on the scene for more than 24 hours. Of course, we have only volunteer fire departments here. They brought in tankers of water from 3 counties.

It was a spectator sport as we've seldom seen in these parts. Facebook photos delivered the news to those of us who didn't want to join the "party." I hope that the spaces are filled eventually, though our downtown has already been struggling for a decade.

Keep moving!
men52 Elaine: I am glad to see you have some grandchildren who live close enough to you to be able to have some gram time.

13,75 steps for me today. I stayed a little longer at the pt place, then walked 3 miles before getting back to fix DM's lunch. I am anxious to see the ...See More

Elaine/ret/IN Thanks, Men, for empathizing. How cool for your town! Yes, DD lives in a gentrified area in NYC--not good for those who are displaced.

I hope that your cold improves soon; that return to the school cauldron of germs will do it every time. In the dark ages when I started, we had 10 sick days the first year and then 7 after we'd become immun...See More

Elaine/ret/IN Bev, thanks, too, for the roll call love. Life changes, doesn't it? You are rocking those steps. Well, not really because that would be sedentary. Wear your bathing suit to WW to be sure. ;)
