A problem statement is an insight into the concerns related to the scientific study intended to be carried out. In other words, it is an overview, which makes the interested parties read the several pages of your work. Therefore, it heightens the reader's interest in reading your literary work. In addition, it allows the author to focus on the primary points of his or her project, and this makes sure that the work does not become too generic.

Every problem statement has specific pre-requisite elements that include:

Method: the part explains how the problem is to be solved.

Issue Statement: gives the rationale for solving the concern being addressed in the research.

Vision: Offers insights into the significance of addressing the issues in the research and their implication on the environment.

Also, the problem statement has to provide answers to the following five "W's."

WHY: is it significant to address the concerns/problems?
