So... We're had to move a lot in my 10 years of teaching. Most of the time i put in my resignation in May and don't sign a new contract. My pay then stops at the end of May. We usually lose benefits over the summer, too.

However, the last job i had to leave because of a move, i asked hr: since i didn't get my first paycheck till September, and since my contact is through August, how can i continue to get paid for my full contract? They said it's no problem to put my resignation date as the day before the next school year starts...that way i get benefits and pay through the summer.

Is this normal? Because we are looking at another move and i don't want to lose benefits and pay for the summer that i already signed a contract for.

I hope that makes sense. I will be highly encouraged if there are many of you who have retained your pay through the summer after you resigned...
