2 years ago i got 3 referrals/calls. ALL of them were late July/early August. (After i had already accepted another position and contract.) So it's still early...
SanDiegoTeacherThanks for the hope! I have wanted this for a long time, and I am finally at a place in my life were I can go on this journey! I have been worried that I have not heard anything, or received any referrals. So fingers crossed something happens this summer. Are you currently working for the DOD?

After 2 years I have received my first referral. Thats the great news. The not so great news is its for 1. Physics, 2. In Spain. I'm only going to accept Japan or Okinawa, Im not sure why I would even make a referral list to Europe. Its awesome to know I'm on the radar though
Got a referral for a position last week. Wondering how long it normally takes to be notified if you have been selected for an interview? How long should you optimistically wait before deciding you were not selected for an interview?
HelpOthers@Sandra09 and CMc, I was pretty sure all the locations with school nurse vacancies had local qualified hires. I with you both the best of luck. If you are hired, you will join a great group of nurses.
CmcI'm local, but I have not received an interview request and it's been over a week when I received my referral notification. Not feeling optimistic for this year :(
What is a local hire, military spouse qualified for regarding allowances overseas, Okinawa to be specific? I see the Okinawa rate is 25% and I would be entitled as a single person under PA as I am married to a service member. As a new hire with masters it looks like its $6025 annually if I am reading it correctly?
If you enter your prospective salary and relevant rate into this calculator (if it works, posting on an IPad is fun), it should give you an idea of the amounts (presuming you qualify for them):
Common among these schools, but especially at Brussels, is that you will be told that the school has a "special" population, with lots of high acheivers. But a closer examination of the situation will reveal that the students are regular kids, although slightly spoiled. It will be encouraged at the school that you buy into the high acheiver version of reality. It is frowned upon at the Brussels school should you mention that you find the students to more ordinary than genius. This makes proper student assessment impossible.
It's a very small location, and you'll have a very small number of coworkers, some of whom self-medicate, but on the wine and not the famous beer mentioned above. It'll be hard work.
A job is a job. I'm not sure that the chocolate makes up for the workload. And a lot of the good beer has a higher alcohol content than you might be used to.
Other posters sometimes speak of the GOT, which can be avoided to an extent, But avoiding the GOT will be more difficult than usual at a very small location like Brussels.
I hope you found these comments useful. Please simply take them at face value. And don't forget to tip your waitress. Other on the board (who will fade away as soon as they have greedily grabbed what they can) have taken my solid advice, and then have shown little gratitude.
HelpOthersI agree. However, I am wondering if someone else is pretending to be IsitFriday? because the posts seems to have changed recently. I hope you enjoy your summer.
Just MeThank you for all of the feedback! No, no one is pretending to be isitfriday. They have been very rude and borderline disrespectful in the past. This is truly them. I find it very sad that someone who work in education and with youth has this type of attitude. I truly hope that this is not how they behave in the workplace or classroom.
