Sorry to post so many questions but I'm trying to get a good estimate on my start date for a stateside hire. The school's first day of school is Monday, August 6th. Do teachers start a full week prior? Do new hires start even sooner for orientation/in-processing?
In general, DoDEA is not big on separate orientations, early report etc., for new hires, but I can't speak to your school's/district's specific policy.
Mrs.C@Mary... my HR rep is in Virginia which is 1/2 way around the world. Is E-QIP done locally? Obviously, I haven't gotten that far in the process but I was given the impression the "security team" that is initiating my E-QIP is also in Virginia.
Can anyone tell me what happens when an overseas DODDS teacher's 2-year tour ends, but the teacher would like to stay on? Is it automatic with good appraisals, or is their situation more precarious? Thanks.
HelpOthersAs long as the position is still available, you will be asked to do another agreement (Renewal Agreement) which is where Renewal Agreement Travel (RAT) comes from. If the position is not longer available, they will try to find you something you are qualified for in the same area. If that is not possible, they will move you where needed, etc.,
Technically, DoDEA do not have to find you another position until you are permanent, but they generally do (and by have to, I mean that is the current/recent practice, but it could obviously change at some point).
An even smaller number of teachers are non-renewed due to poor performance/evaluations which DoDEA can do, without cause.
Hello Everyone! I need some reassurance! The ISS posting closed on 4/20 and I have yet to hear a peep about it. I have not even heard whether I have been referred or not. Does anyone have any insight? I am getting really discouraged!
When I applied for a specific position, I received all the "not chosen" notices for the positions I had not asked to be considered for and did not qualify for. When I contacted them, they said this was a glitch due to the way they had set it up. HR was going through the applications for each ISS position and eliminating those who did not meet the qualification requirements based on the questions answered and a review of the resume.
Make sure your resume clearly supports all the answers you give in the questionnaire. Otherwise, you will be eliminated. Because they posted so many vacancies in one post, it took them a LONG time to review every application under each of the criteria.
Hopefully their process improves by not lumping them all together in the same posting. Also, if there is no actual vacancy, you won't hear anything, because they won't have eliminated anyone yet, but also won't be interviewing.
They said something about posting this every 6 months, so keep your eyes out for another posting. You do have to apply again in each application window.

(The exact message sent to me on May 22 and again today) I understand the dynamic process and I would be OK waiting if I knew my stuff was actually in the right hands. I guess my concern lies more in the fact that I am not confident that my files found their way through the transition between the old/new security process. There's not exactly a way to say to my HR representative "Can I speak to someone else to ensure you've done your job properly" but at this point, I'm not sure she has. I'm not blaming her just because of the wait, but I've had other roadblocks. I was given an obsolete hiring packet with directions telling me to send my information to the wrong person. I have been asked for forms that have already been submitted when I reminded her that they were already sent she said: "I have already received those documents." I was told to drop things off with the school secretary (local hire) only to be told never mind they should have been submitted elsewhere... all of these "corrections" to the process were only identified when I sent e-mails and questions. It just seems like I need to be proactive to keep this process on track and I'm just wondering if there is anything else I can do to feel confident that my paperwork is actually being handled properly.
HelpOthersI would contact them every day instead of every 10 days. I would also ask if you can contact the security person directly. Remind the person how long you have been waiting and keep the e-mail stream, so they can look at the previous e-mails in timeline.
HelpOthersMrs. C, Keep trying. E-mail your HR person daily if you need to. Ask who else you can contact. Use your good manner words to be pleasant, but don't let it sit and get ignored if at all possible.
Applications submitted to USAJOBS WILL NOT receive consideration.
I was under the impression that you apply first on USA jobs (which has basically only your resume uploaded) and then your qualifications and official documentation( 5013 forms, transcripts, license) is then linked to application and reviewed.

In reality they are just alerting people to DoDEA as a potential job and funneling people towards EAS who may not have previously been aware of it's existence.
DoDEA rarely, if ever, advertises actual, specific teaching openings externally.
