Medical care will vary by location but I can't think of many locations where blood tests and the vast majority of medications are not readily available either on base or on the economy. This was exactly what I needed to hear--as long as he can get the medication he needs, we should be good, and it doesn't sound like that will be a problem. Pam, I am in the same situation as you. I received my tentative offer August 23, completed paperwork and now just waiting....and waiting. I keep in touch with my principal and she mentioned she had 3 new employees all offered in the same week and all three of us are waiting. Maybe soon!

Any offer being made now is for the current school year. Either there is currently a substitute covering the opening/class or there could be no one if it is a specialist position without a regular classroom schedule. I would say if varies wildly from location to location and school to school. In the two schools I have been at, ESL has been combined with other certifications and/or shared between two schools on complex. I'm aware of several other schools where ESL is part-time and/or combined with other subjects (like ESL).

Thanks. It's not all that uncommon for those conditions to exist in public school stateside, so that doesn't surprise me. My last position before becoming a director was split ESL and reading intervention. I'm starting to look into what I need for a special ed certification in order to make myself more marketable!

Instructional Systems Specialist. In this case, for Special Education but they have them for all subjects. Usually one or two per District.

It's about as likely as any other regular classroom position. There may be somewhat of a relative shortage of highly qualified math teachers so that could improve the odds a bit.

It really depends on which of the IT pathways they are going to follow at Yokota. I am Edgren and teach Gamine, Java, Office, and Digital Media. As posted in another thread, the bulk of the stateside hiring generally seems to be between May-September for the following fall start of the school year. Usually around April 1st they will ask all applicants to renew/update their applications and then referrals seem to come out after that.

Updates are requested around February-March, but hiring does not begin usually until at least June. The transfer round positions are filled first.

I saw people posting around March last year that they were getting referrals. I think there is a second transfer period after this one which is regional and then they start the outside hiring.

Hi, my start date was December 12th of last year and I received my salary through direct deposit on December 30th. I'm sure others have different experiences.
