We've unfortunately had to utilize on and off base medical services for far more significant reasons in Europe and Japan and have been very satisfied.
In general, it would not give me pause. You can always research specific locations should you get a referral or interview and decline if it seem that your husbands needs would not be met.
ESLTeachThanks, haha. I really appreciate you taking time to answer so many of our questions! This was exactly what I needed to hear--as long as he can get the medication he needs, we should be good, and it doesn't sound like that will be a problem. I will definitely research the location if I get an offer.
completed all onboarding paperwork and medical paperwork request for orders etc. by oct 25
went and completed official passports and sent them to HQ
received Eqip link Nov 16, completed Nov 16
fingerprint cards are due to arrive today, going at 11:30 to complete and then mail next day air...
how much longer is the wait for security going to be?? emailed HR weekly since October asking for security clearance and eqip link and was told it was processing...
rcoachPam, I am in the same situation as you. I received my tentative offer August 23, completed paperwork and now just waiting....and waiting. I keep in touch with my principal and she mentioned she had 3 new employees all offered in the same week and all three of us are waiting. Maybe soon!
hahaI would say if varies wildly from location to location and school to school. In the two schools I have been at, ESL has been combined with other certifications and/or shared between two schools on complex. I'm aware of several other schools where ESL is part-time and/or combined with other subjects (like ESL).
ESLTeachThanks. It's not all that uncommon for those conditions to exist in public school stateside, so that doesn't surprise me. My last position before becoming a director was split ESL and reading intervention. I'm starting to look into what I need for a special ed certification in order to make myself more marketable!
It would also be helpful if you could teach/have certification/experience with all areas of math, AP etc. It would be really helpful if you could also teach Science, as many math teachers seem to be asked to pick up a class or two of Science.
So I just got a referral for HS com sci. Is anyone familiar with what course are offered in DoDEA for Com Sci. What programming language do they teach?
When does the hiring season usual start for overseas jobs? I know they can hire year round but just curious. For example, for 2018-19 school year? Are application updates requested in the spring or when? TIA.
hahaAs posted in another thread, the bulk of the stateside hiring generally seems to be between May-September for the following fall start of the school year. Usually around April 1st they will ask all applicants to renew/update their applications and then referrals seem to come out after that.
HelpOthersUpdates are requested around February-March, but hiring does not begin usually until at least June. The transfer round positions are filled first.
somedayI saw people posting around March last year that they were getting referrals. I think there is a second transfer period after this one which is regional and then they start the outside hiring.

I signed a letter acknowledging that I understand that my first paycheck can take up to 6 weeks to process. What was everyone's experience with this, STATESIDE? Does it really take 6 weeks? Please also indicate what location / base you work on, just so I can see if there are any variables that might indicate a better timeline.
kgteachHi, my start date was December 12th of last year and I received my salary through direct deposit on December 30th. I'm sure others have different experiences.
