We got our travel orders and set up an account in ETA and DPS. Do we have to do the self-counseling? We are having a problem because it keeps saying we need to do our branch of service information. We can't find that anywhere. Any help on what to click to do that part would be really appreciated.
I emailed my HR rep to follow up on when I can expect to receive the e-QIP email. This was her response "Security is currently completing a preliminary check and if further information is needed they will contact you directly."
Hi! On the list of entitlements we received, it mentions FTA for 10 days before departure from a US Post to a Foreign Post. Does this mean we do not get it because we do not have a US Post?
Basically, we have to drive to St. Louis to drop off our car 2 days before our flight to Seoul. Can we use the FTA to stay in a hotel in St. Louis?
Hi SandArt. I forgot your Facebook name. I believe you said you were from Arizona. I just got my travel orders. Can I chat with you to figure out what to do? Thanks.
vickyoI am in the same position but with a report date to Germany next August. Where on the application can I find the local applicants only? I was only able to choose Germany as a preference. Any help appreciated!
I recently learned that my spouse has received orders overseas and will leave later this year. I am an alternatively certified teacher here in the states, and I am planning to move once the school year is over here. I would like to use the time between now and then to increase the likelihood of me being able to teach at a DODD school on base. With that being said, I have a few questions!
1. The certification exam I took was not the PRAXIS, but a state-specific certification test. Will I need to take the PRAXIS to be eligible to work for a DODD school?
2. I have been teaching for 4 years, and have met my state's requirement for full certification in my subject area. In my state, the path to adding more subject areas to your teaching certificate is to simply take a subject area exam. I see that the DODEA website states that college courses must be taken in your subject area, but I also see down further it says the following:
"In lieu of meeting the DoDDS minimum qualifications, applicants may be considered and hired based on a valid state or territory certificate or license in the subject area for which applying. Educators appointed based on state or territory certificates may be granted a Provisional License."
My plan for the year is to take as many tests as possible to add subject areas to my teaching certificate. Will the DODEA accept these added certification areas, or will I need to have the college hours to go along with it?
3. Should I [1] begin the application process ASAP, [2] wait until I complete my certifications (pending the answer to the above question), or [3] wait until I have moved?
4. Any tips or advice in general? Thank you so much for your help!
ScholarYes, I am secondary. I am AP certified in one science but wasn't hired based on it.
I am math qualified for teaching based on 15 credits and math certification in one state. It makes sense ISS would be more specific to coursework since we'll be depending on your insight.
