I always wanted a Kirby, but never had the $$. Maybe you can sell that and buy a mini Dyson. It hardly weighs anything. The only downfall is it only stays charged for 10 minutes then you have to plug it back in. However, I can't imagine having much carpet in Japan.
I use an app called OfferUp to list items I am selling. I have made so much money. It's awesome!
HelpOthersThat is great. I wish we had more time to sell things, but my husband would prefer to get the things out of the house we are not keeping. I am planning a trip to the thrift store on post tomorrow. I think we can leave them on consignment or just donate them.
I recently submitted my teaching application for the 2018-19 school year online. I am at the step where the jobs I have selected of interest have been marked "qualified". What can I expect to happen now? I am curious as to the whole application process. Thanks for your help!
SandArtJP, I had the same experience upon my initial application. However, I decided to add reading specialist. That took a week or more. I later decided to add junior high math, and it never changed from pending.
Hello all, I'm new to DODEA! Can anyone give me info on the Federal Education Association (FEA)? Is it expensive to join the association and would you guys say that it is worth the expense? Thank you.
SandArtJanie, in my previous district we signed contracts in April. It makes it difficult for teachers to find a better job. For me, because there's a shortage, I knew I'd wait because there would be a job. Maybe it wouldn't have been exactly what I wanted, but it's not a problem getting a job during a shortage!
Dahlgren is a very tiny school. Students usually walk home for lunch every day. Teachers have a lot of preps and are required to be flexible. They are also making a multi age, "open concept" class for the younger elementary grades. I believe it will be 2-3 teachers and an aide over 3 grade levels.
My advice would be to show that you are willing to teach anything that you are qualified for, at any time.
HelpOthersIt was almost two months for me, but it is a district level position and the HR in the Pacific East rather than HQ. They contacted previous supervisors who could testify to my experience in required skills and I don't know why else it took that long, but it is possible.
Unfortunately, my judge is a traveling judge who probably won't see the documents until the actual court date since he's from a neighboring county. Luckily, I spoke with the traveling judge's secretary. She will get me on the earliest docket once the paperwork has been filed. She's trying to help me which is awesome!
Micorazonkilleen, I am so sorry to hear that these troubles continue. Keep us posted. I understand the reasoning behind the issue, but like you wrote, he's 2,000 miles away and not making any decisions. Best of luck.
Do you know which military installations are most likely to allow DOD civilians to live in military housing? I understand that's determined by demand and occupancy rates, but is there a listing somewhere?
HelpOthersFort Knox currently has plenty of housing for civilians. Fort Bragg allows it, but you may be on a wait list for a long time. i don't know about other locations.
My family and I are happy we are going to Japan. I ...See MoreI just received an e-mail asking me to interview for an ISS School Psychology 504 position in Europe. I graciously declined, letting her know I received an offer 7/11/2017 for the same position in Yokota, Japan, and looked forward to collaborating with whomever they hire for the position.
My family and I are happy we are going to Japan. I also appreciate that I was able to start the paperwork process so I can hopefully get there close to the expected report date of August 1st.
The passport office on post was VERY helpful and may be able to speed that process. The same office has the person who schedules the flights and HHG shipments, so at least I know where to go once I have orders.
I called to schedule an appointment for my physical on post, but was too late again, so will have to try first thing in the morning. The rest of the family hasn't been to the doctor since Fort Bragg, so I'm hoping the doc there can sign a letter stating they are well enough to move to Japan.
Banfield still has the original FAVN report from May 2017, so I will pick those up tomorrow to add to the other documents in the little fire proof safe.
Just waiting on the background check information and what exactly is really needed for my physical.
HelpOthersIt seems I have not checked in for a while. I have been overwhelmed with getting things done this week. Yes, if you can find me on Facebook, you can message me your e-mail address and remind me who you are. I can send you my personal e-mail that way.
