That is great. I wish we had more time to sell things, but my husband would prefer to get the things out of the house we are not keeping. I am planning a trip to the thrift store on post tomorrow. I think we can leave them on consignment or just donate them.

I recently submitted my teaching application for the 2018-19 school year online. I am at the step where the jobs I have selected of interest have been marked "qualified". What can I expect to happen now? I am curious as to the whole application process. Thanks for your help!

It's really interesting to read about how things work in other states. I never realized how early some have had to sign contracts. I am in FL and at least in my county we don't sign until our pay for the year is determined. Which used to be late because the union and district hadn't reached an agreement but now is even later because we have to wait...See More

Janie, in my previous district we signed contracts in April. It makes it difficult for teachers to find a better job. For me, because there's a shortage, I knew I'd wait because there would be a job. Maybe it wouldn't have been exactly what I wanted, but it's not a problem getting a job during a shortage!

What are you interviewing for?
Dahlgren is a very tiny school. Students usually walk home for lunch every day. Teachers have a lot of preps and are required to be flexible. They are also making a multi age, "open concept" class for the younger elementary grades. I believe it will be 2-3 teachers and an aide over 3 grade levels.

I got my offer two days later, but some people have written that it took over a month. Don't accept defeat!! :-)

It was almost two months for me, but it is a district level position and the HR in the Pacific East rather than HQ. They contacted previous supervisors who could testify to my experience in required skills and I don't know why else it took that long, but it is possible.

Janie, unfortunately not. Technically/legally in the state of Georgia, the judge can sign off on the modification since it is uncontested and already notarized by both my ex and myself as soon as I file it with the courts, however my county requires a hearing regardless. Fort Knox currently has plenty of housing for civilians. Fort Bragg allows it, but you may be on a wait list for a long time. i don't know about other locations.
