There has just been a position posted that I am interested in but there is no indication of a starting date. The position closes in December. Do you think this position could start at the 2017-18 school year or do you think it would be more immediate? Thank you for any help you can offer!
SpeechieHaha you sound like you know what your talking about! Thank you..if I were to take a job with Dodea how many of my years of experience would they take? I have a 30+ and 2 masters degrees..thank you so much for help.. 2 more immediate jobs have been posted in my area..
hahaIf the position is with DoDDS overseas then they would take 10 years which would start you off on step 11 of one of the pay lanes (probably Masters +30 credits). If it's a stateside school then I believe they only give you credit for 5 years (but the salary scale is higher).
How long does it take for a re-evaluation to take place? I sent my transcripts to prove I have the necessary classes. I was found "qualified" for several years but then someone said that I lacked enough credits. How can they to that?
Does anyone know how long it takes for Dodea HQ to process your student teaching application? We are stationed overseas and my school has submitted my student teaching application to dodea HQ and I am just wondering how long it normally takes to find out your placement information.
bondoI interviewed in early March and did not receive the offer until June! The offer came 1 day after submitting my signed contract with a local district. A district that was unwilling to release me from this contract. So, the dream job with DoDEA is on hold for yet another year.
hahaYou get a provisional DoDDS certificate when you are hired. After two years you would get a Professional Certificate. I believe (but don't recall exactly) that HR will automatically review your transcripts and coursework and you do not have to actually apply for the teaching certificates.
There are generally a fair numbe...See MoreYou applied after the deadline to be considered for this year so it's not that unusual to still be pending. The next step would be that HR reviews your app and tells you what areas you are qualified in. If it doesn't change in the near future I would call or write HR and make sure that your app is complete.
There are generally a fair number of jobs for non-teaching spouses on base but it varies a lot between locations. I'm not sure if he would be able to find something in his field as those jobs would be done by the military and/or local personnel in many locations (although I suppose it is possible).
You might go on USA jobs and see what kinds of positions are advertised for overseas locations. His other option might be subbing/coaching.
hahaI'm not sure what you are asking with the first question. They generally would make contact with your submitted references before making an offer (and sometimes before giving you an interview).
Also, I am married and have a child. I was wondering is it hard for the spouses to find jobs? My husband is not military. He is a firefighter and 911 dispatcher and he is a little worried he won't have anything to do. Any suggestions????
When shipping a car overseas ( Europe) at government expense, as a civilian employee of DoDEA, will one have to pay import duties and VAT ( value added tax) at the destination? Or these fees are also covered, in addition to the shipping cost? Does it matter if the car is new or used?
