Cleared to travel to Japan!

Hooray! Yesterday, I received an email from DODEA clearing my spouse and I to travel to Atsugi, Japan. I was asked to provide the date I would like to begin travel…they need 2 weeks notice to get things rolling on their end. We are basically ready to go, totes are almost packed, but we haven't received any info about obtaining our burgundy passports which we will need for travel. We do have our blue passports.

I have several questions such as whether I will have a possible person of contact in Atsugi (both before and after arrival), instructions about what happens when we arrive, etc., instructions about having our possessions picked up for transfer, etc.

My goodness, things are happening quickly now and we are on Cloud 9!

haha Congrats! You are coming to a great area. The 3 bases in the greater Tokyo area are some of the best DoDDS postings in the world (IMHO). HR should be able to give you the information you need about passports.

uh89 When I went to teach at Camp Zama I found that there was a teacher who was there to show me the ropes and how to get around and where I needed to go and what I needed to do. So you'll likely have someone like that there to help you out as well.

haha Yes, I neglected to answer that part of the question. Generally the school secretary can be a great resource for your questions. Also, the school should assign someone (a current teacher) as a sponsor to help you through the process. Sometimes they will even pick you up at the airport depending on your location.
