Thank you haha for your comment on an earlier post. I tried responding several times to you on the previous post but none of them worked. So, I'm trying a new posting altogether. I understand History/Social Studies may not be the most critical areas and may not be the best areas to break into the DODD system. I was hoping my status as retired military would give me a leg up, but it doesn't look like the system really cares about that. I also have a Masters in TEFL. But, after teaching ESL for 3-years, I realized I hated it and didn't bother to recertify. Do you think it would help get my foot in the door if I re-qualified in TEFL? Thanks,

VulcanWarrior Thanks again haha - I took your professional advice and requested an ESL (K-12) add-on from my state. Since my Masters is in TEFL, I am able to petition based on coursework already completed. Maybe, I'll get lucky and won't have to take additional courses - if so, only one or two. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks.

haha With a Masters in ESL and state certification (which means you only need half of the usually required credits) you should be fine for DoDDS qualification.

VulcanWarrior @haha - Do you mean I could be qualified NOW thru DoDDS - without an ESL Endorsement from my state? The Masters in TEFL & state certification in Social Sciences is enough to qualify me thru DoDDS b/c I only need half of the required credit hours? So, I can request DoDDS to evaluate me NOW for ESL? Wow!
