Ok. So let me get this straight. I turned in my fingerprint card last week (it will come back clean) and they will give me a firm contract based on that?

And then continue an in "depth check" that could take months...weird. What if something doesn't check out in July and I have already quit my current teaching job! That's no good!

Shouldn't they do a through check first and then start paper work on my orders...

Any thoughts on this?
TeacherMama K in Daegu Having just spent an hour at DODEA HQ doing my fingerprints and talking to the people there... yep. that is the process. They do it that way to avoid having teaching positions left vacant b/c of a backlog of paperwork.

haha Yes, it's not perfect but the logistics of a full background check make it difficult to come up with better solutions. It all requires a leap of faith in the end.

Keep in mind that with DoDDS, even with a firm offer, orders, contract etc they can still release you without cause until you have passed your two years of provisional service.

SandArt Feeling the same about wanting to get it official. Like TeacherMama, I am no criminal and have excellent credit. I can't see an issue, but I wish I had a firm offer for peace of mind. I guess it's better than waiting till June to get a job, though! Knowing now makes me thankful, even if I am not feeling patient.
