So, lets assume we will live off base....

How does paying your rent work? Do you get a lump sum of LQA to pay your rent in one big yearly check? Or do you get it bi-weekly and pay your rent monthly?
Teach I believe it depends on where you are going. If I am not mistaken, Korea has a very different way to renting. I recall a colleague talking about having to pay her year or two years up-front. She had to walk through the streets with the equivalent of like $100,000 USD.

haha That is correct. Korea pays in advance for you year (you/the landlord get a lump sum check). Most everywhere else you estimate your rent/utilities and then they break that amount into 26 payments that you get in your paycheck.
