So, this isn't of great consequence...but what about pets? Can they accompany us overseas?
haha Short answer, generally yes. The requirements vary greatly by location. Maybe some actual pet owners will post details for their location.

Dr. Ali Fant Once on a walk around downtown Schweinfurt around a corner, the leash stopped. When I gently tugged on the leash, I heard a human say in German ("I must not."). When I looked, doggy had firmly planted his forepaws in front of him, desiring to go a different direction. We met many dog walkers around the Marktsplatz.

Dr. Ali Fant When Wishbone and I went to Poland in January 2007 for a non-DoDEA ESL job, many airlines would take doggy as cargo because of the cooler weather.
