My current principal is being horrible about the entire situation and doesn't seem to understand that I don't actually control anything done by the government.

Oh bummer about your current principal! I'm in the same boat - I signed my formal offer this week, but now I'm waiting for my travel orders. Thankfully my current principal has been supportive and fine with the uncertainty.

I'm waiting, too. My HR person put that my travel date was TBD until the gov't budget was fixed. She said that as soon as it's resolved, I should get my orders the next day.
