Having just learned about DoDDS, I spent the last few hours going down the proverbial rabbit hole, reading and learning all that I can. Absolutely interested in applying for SY19/20. But of course I am a tad confused about some details about making myself an attractive candidate.

Me: Math certified (secondary); been teaching middle school math the past 4 years.

From what I gathered, even though math is highly sought after, it would be advisable to get certified/endorsed/qualified in additional subjects (say, science). Makes sense. But here's where I get confused. How does DoDEA define "qualified"? X-amount of college coursework? Passing the PRAXIS subject tests? And are there other, secret ways I don't know about?

The verbiage on their HR site did not help at all so I'm hoping that one of you kind human beings can help clarify that for me. Thanks in advance!

TL;DR: I'm certified in secondary math. How do I get additional certifications?

We were in an interview that did not go well because of our child's special needs and the principal advised us to look into DoDDS...See More

Aloha Sunday Thank you haha for the thoughtful response, you're setting me on a path! I definitely qualify for both middle and secondary math (majored in math) so my next step is to qualify for the "low hanging fruit," as it were. For me, that would be computer science and another science (likely physics).

Some additional questions: 1) How attractive ...See More

haha My pleasure.

Based on what I have seen/experience, CS is a good field to have. There would generally be fewer positions at a given school than science positions, but during the transfer round announcements for internal candidates, I have seen quite a few positions with CS as one of the combinations. 21st Century education is a big buzz wor...See More
