Virtual Academy

Can anyone shed some light on the virtual academy to me? I've taught English at a virtual school in my county for the last four years. Wondering what requirements the DoDea has for it's teachers. Also, is it full-time, part-time? Can you teach from home or do you relocate to somewhere specific? I literally know nothing about it, but am definitely curious. Thanks!

haha No first hand experience (other than helping some students who are taking virtual classes). I also recall seeing the virtual positions advertised on USA jobs not too long ago.

mandypicc Thanks. I wasn't sure if it was strictly stateside, or if the virtual academy served students abroad as well. Also, do you happen to know if they use a particular software or are the lessons teacher made? You also make it sound like there are multiple hubs, so it seems like this is a pretty large operation. You've got me so curious.

haha No problem. I believe they are used/offered at all DoDEA schools, particularly where students need certain classes to graduate and those classes are not offered at a particular school.

HelpOthers They are moved abroad too if needed. I believe there is one location in Europe, one Oscufic, and one USA. We live in the Pacifuc and often the teacher is in Europe. I'm not sure if this is due to vacant positions, or just is.

I do not know what software is used.
