I'm wondering if it's appropriate to contact priincipals, to state your interest, if you've been placed on their referral list? I receive referral notifications all the time but I don't get calls for interviews.

I'm also wondering if DoDea principals have to give approval for an overseas move?

IsItFriday? It is definitely easier to get into Dodds from Ddess. A lot easier.

But that doesn't mean that everyone from Ddess gets picked up quickly. Some wait years.

haha As posted, I know/hear of quite a few people who have come from DoDEA Americas to DoDEA overseas. I also know/hear of many that are still in the system and have never even had an interview. There is some advantage but that doesn't make it easy.

SPED is a very good area to have, in general. Make sure you have as many SPED certs as possible ...See More

kiki08 I'm currently a LIMM teacher but I'm also elementary GenEd certified.

I've received referral list notifications for elementary schools in England, Germany, and Japan but no interviews.

haha That is a little unusual that you have gotten more attention for the elementary than for the SPED. Most principals (but not all obviously) will be looking for something in addition to the LIMM to give themselves more options/flexibility. Another SPED category would be great but ES is also good.
