Hello everyone!

I've read as much as I could on here about the DODD process, and I finally decided to create an account and just put it out there!

I would really, really love to get a placement with the DoDea. It's been a dream of mine to teach abroad, and the DoDea seems to have the best of both worlds- adventure and the security of having visas and housing.

So, here's a bit about me. I'd love to know what your thoughts on of the possibility of me getting hired, or what else I should work towards to add to my resume. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

I am in my 4th year teaching. I teach an exploratory World Cultures class (a little bit of French, German, and Spanish) and 4 sections of French. I am also certified to teach 5-12 English/Language Arts. I am working towards my Masters degree and ESL state of Iowa endorsement. I am receiving AP French training this summer. ATeacher Be sure to compare salary schedules. I used to tell friends to apply for DODEA, but teacher pay in my home state has surpassed DODEA since I've been in and working conditions in DODEA have taken a nosedive, so now I tell my old colleagues not to bother. I often consider going back.

Icanread ATeacher, where do you work that your pay is higher than DoDEA? I'm always curious of well-paying states/districts in case we end up back in the US.

I agree with Haha - the LQA and PA make a big difference. And hopefully in time, we will purchase a house and have our mortgage paid for with our LQA.

ATeacher Washington state just got a huge pay raise. Some districts received a 20% increase in salary...most got at least 12%. Plus they pay you a $5000-$10000 bonus if you earned your national boards. If I were still teaching there, I would be paid about 11,000 more than DoDEA which makes up for the LQA piece if you live in a reasonable priced house. 11,00...See More
