I've read that over 300+ jobs are being eliminated with DODD. That is certainly not positive! I'm curious on a few things related to that.
1. It seems like a huge number. Proportionately, is this a huge percentage of the DOD teacher workforce?
2. Does this primarily affect only teachers? Admin? Support staff? No idea?
3. In my mind, when a school district eliminates position, they do not then hire new people. Is this correct in this case?
4. I saw, I think, that is mostly relating to high schools. If I'm hoping for a position at a high school, should I not get my hopes up, realistically?
What crappy, crappy news! There was also an article in the NEA magazine about working conditions within dodea http://neatoday.org/2018/11/05/the-bittersweet-experience-of-teaching-overseas/
I hope that things start to improve. I know it's a great organization, but it seems that there are some growing problems!

Yes, we've been posting about it here. It mostly is impacting secondary. We are just now finding out exactly how badly it is affecting individual schools.
