I'm interested that they can put you in a teaching position which is not on your application. Does that mean you can teach something you are not qualified to teach? Or am I reading that incorrectly.

Our faculty was asked to supply teaching certificates for all things we are certified to teach. In some cases, people were certified in multiple things but never put that on their application because they didn't want to be hired for it. Right, they don't mean application like EAS, it is the application for excess placement. You can choose what areas you want to be selected for, but ultimately you can be placed for anything you are certified in. It is the catch-22 of having a lot of certs. It may help you get hired, or not get excessed, or get placed if you do get excessed, BUT you may be forced to teach something you do not want to or are not particularly ready for (and once it's on your DoDEA certificate it's very difficult to get it removed).
