Hello! I've been reading up about the DoDEA and recently submitted (and resubmitted) my application. I have a couple questions for you veterans out there:

1. I've been told that the hiring window is late March to August; I understand that I may or may not receive a job within that time-frame, so at what point should I consider job openings elsewhere? I would very much like to work with the DoDEA, but I'd also like steady employment.

2. Any interview tips? Are they mostly over the phone? I've only done in-person interviews, and I'm a bit nervous about doing it over the phone without referring to a portfolio or something.

3. Can family members who aren't a spouse or children travel with you?

4. Do DoDEA employees live on a base, or must they find housing off-base? Just curious. :)

Many people are in the system for years before they get an interview/offer. Many people never get interviews/offers.
