Sorry to be a pain...do you think hiring is pretty much wrapped up for the year? I started school 3 weeks ago in my district. I only got one part-time referral this year...but I also hadn't updated my files...so that could be why...maybe next year...

dodhopeful Connie thanks for that. I understand. When I got 2 calls 2 years ago, I thought since I had already signed a local contract that I COULD NOT break it. Now I understand that my state allows it unconditionally prior to July 10 and even allows it at all other times, but the district can suspend your license in that state for a year. I'm ok with that. ...See More

HelpOthers If you need an active license, you could consider getting one in another state, so that if your current state suspends your license, you still meet the qualification requirements.

dodhopeful Thanks, Mary. I am active in multiple states. I just didn't know that I could break my contract legally. And I had just signed a brand new one in a new district. I felt unethical thinking about breaking it. But now my current principal knows I'm applying every year...

HelpOthers I agree that it is best to be open with your principal. Let them know your goals and keep them in the loop if you ever do see a referral or interview request. Sometimes your references are contacted before you are asked to interview.
