Say you are in OCONUS and a permanent employee (excepted) receiving benefits. Let's say that your travel agreement was fulfilled and you didn't take RAT, if you were to travel to your dream location interview as a local hire and accept a job without benefits. Is that possible?

haha Well, it's an interesting question/work theoretical work around.

The first hurdle would be that you generally need to be "in" the commuting area to be considered as a local hire. In generally means living in, but I guess that could be open for interpretation.

IsItFriday? The whole idea is so incredibly far-fetched, as to defy several DoDEA regulations, and at least two Federal laws, and violate the Union Contract..

Icanread I can completely understand your frustration with the lack of a transfer round. I graduated with my masters this year with the intention of applying for ISS positions that will allow me to move locations.

HelpOthers EAS is used even for local hires, so I don't see how you would be considered. If you leave DoDEA, and return the USA, you must be there at least a year before you can accept another overseas position.
